7 Random Facts about Jocelyn

“Be Friendly.  Be Engaging.  Be Human.” — that’s my mantra and I live by it!  So when a challenge was posed to me by one of my online friends, Dorien from More in Media, how perfectly aligned is that with my beliefs?!  So here I am writing a post about “7 Random Facts about Jocelyn”.

Let’s see if you’ve guessed any of these….

1) I’m a foodie and wine enthusiasts and my favorite local hang-out for wine tasting is Bliss Wine.  Bliss offers free wine tasting daily.  Yes, you heard it FREE!  So if you’re in Wauconda or you’re visiting, make sure to stop by at Bliss and say hello!  We’re a friendly little town.  They also offer beer tasting and some of the local restaurants pair up with them nightly to offer some specialty dishes.  Oh and local bands also play there for your listening pleasure.  My favorite:  The 3 Lincolns.  Take my word for it – it’s a super great place to meet friends and hang out.

2) With #1 above, I’m sure you’ve already figured that I love to cook!  I learned how or should I say, was forced to cook when my family came here in the states from the Philippines.  The move alone was a total culture shock, but being doted on by maids growing up, the little princess in me couldn’t believe that I had to learn how to do things on my own?!  The nerve!

Which leads me to my #3……from Princess to a Queen!  Would you have guessed that I was on a float as a Homecoming Queen, in college at SIU?  Yes, I know the wave. HAH! And I see you just tried doing it too. 😉

4) Unveil the royal highness and I emerge as a freak!  An organizational freak that is! At home, my spices are organized alphabetically, my shoes by colors, then by the hours I can wear them comfortably, my shirts by length of sleeves then also by color. At work, I use Evernote from my daily to dos to the books I want to read and blogs I need to write.  I even us it to organize my recipes.  You should check out Evernote too.  The ways you can use it to organize things are endless!

Now don’t get me wrong, I still wear the crown around the house as a wife to my wonderful husband of 20+ years and as a mom to two beautiful children.  I have a daughter that will be 18 years old in May and a son that just turned 7 last November. Yes, I’m a lot older than you think.  And this just made my #5 random facts about me!

Are you still trying to figure out how old I am?  Let me tell you a secret….. #6…..The only way I can keep up with my kids and work at least 14 hours a day and stay young and fit is by doing P90X2 on a consistent basis. It’s a tough workout but you really do see results. No, I don’t sell it but I know someone who does.  I’m a health buff and I eat well too.  I have tried many other workout programs out there.  P90X2 is by far the best!  I can schedule my workouts when it’s convenient for me.  It offers variety so you won’t get that burnt out feeling.  It’s a great challenging workout.  So, do you want to look at least 5 to 10 years younger?  Who wouldn’t?! Check out P90X2, I tell you, it works!!

7) OK, my final random fact…when I’m not cooking, or going to wine tasting or being a mom or working out or organizing my shoes, or working as a social media and SEO consultant, I do make time to unwind.  So once in a while you’d catch me watching my favorite shows on TV and they are:  “The Walking Dead”, “Spartacus”, “Dancing with The Stars”, “Housewives of Orange County” and “Body of Proof” and anything on “HGTV” and “Food Network”.

Life is about balance.  You have to mix in a little bit of fun here and there. I’m grateful to have online friends that challenge me both professionally and personally.  This was a fun blog post to write.  I hope you all got to know me a bit.  How about you? 1. Jocelyn,
What a fun blog post and I did learn so much more about you. It’s always interesting at least for me to try to figure out what online friends are really like.

I knew you were into health and food. That wine place has such an inviting name. No wonder you want to hang out there.

Thanks for sharing everything that makes Jocelyn shine.

    • Yep! Bliss Wine does really live up to its name. It’s cute that your latest blog post is about how your brain stays young! I’m a true believer that both good food choices and exercise makes one’s being stay young. Thanks for commenting!

  2. No way! You organize like I do. My spices are not in abc order but shoes are by color and our closets sound strangely similar. Even bought black plastic hangers yesterday to hang black pants. I worried it was a bit over the top but justified it … I mean, I could be hiding a drinking habit or worse. Loved reading all about you and finding out 7 things I didn’t know. Very fun. Thanks for passing on the challenge.

    • Want to hear something more over the top? I use black hangers for things I’ve worn after one time, but do not yet warrant the need to be washed! I don’t stink! LOL! White for freshly washed clothes. There’s a method to our madness. And yes, we’re all human. Loved writing this to personalize things a bit. :). All about balance, right? Thanks Kim! Looking forward to learning more about you. Make sure to stop by so we can take a peek!

You are a lovely lady with a young heart, to match your young appearance. You just inspired me to pick up my work out routine again, except I use Kathy Smith’s DVDs.

  4. Thanks for this post and the baton! 🙂 LOL
I also use Evernote a lot. I like your new Genesis blog BTW!

What a pleasure to know you better. As we have children the same age, it is interesting to see your comments there.

  7. WOW! I love it Jocelyn! I accept the challenge. You only 28! That’s amazing 😉 I would have never guessed about the kids. So wonderful. And yes, you do need balance – all work no play equals no fun.

  8. That was a lovely find in my reader for the end of the work week.

I’m having so much fun getting to know everyone a little better. It is good to know that the people you gravitate towards and befriend online are the same people that you would do locally.

Whoever says that online friendships are not real must be mad!
